Norwest Surveying Services, Inc. began it practice in 1974 in Morrison, IL; owned and operated by William Holt. In July of 2019, Abbitt Survey & Development, PLLC opened it's doors, based on owner Jim Abbitt's 45 years of experience in survey, construction, development and design, with an Illinois Quad Cities Office. In January 2025, Abbitt acquired the assets of Norwest and now operates 2 offices in NW IL, having a full-time staff of nine, consisting of four experienced crew chiefs, two computer draftsmen, two professional land surveyors and our administrative assistant to pull it all together. Each member of our staff has the knowledge and training to accomplish most any task that your project may require. For projects requiring other licensed, professional services we collaborate closely with 5 regional civil and structural firms; and 3 regional architectural firms in order to offer complete design services.

Utilizing Real Time Kinetic GPS, we have the ability to incorporate the High Accuracy Resolution Network (HARN) of State Plane Coordinates into every project. Our database of over 10,000 projects can be retrieved and incorporated into the research and performance of most any new project within our radius of service.
